The development and application of numerical models for the description of atmospheric circulation, atmospheric dispersion and chemistry for research or regulatory purposes, is becoming increasingly important and widespread. Between the model development and the model application, an important phase exists which consists in the validation of the model results against experimental evidence.

In the last few decades the collection of experimental data that can be instrumental for numerical model validation has also increased. Several are the datasets presently available to the Scientific Communty for atmospheric model validation. These data have been made accessible through WWW sites by the research groups that collected them or, in many cases, can be obtain upon direct requests to these groups.

DAM's objective is to facilitate the access to such valuable information to any model developer or user that intends to validate his/her modeling tool. DAM must be intended as an interface between modellers and the information available through existing web sites or contact points.

Although DAM can not be considered as capable of answering any possible type of request from model users or developer, it aims at being as complete as possible. For this reason a continuos update is necessary with the constant inclusion of new information about existing datasets not mentioned in the site or new ones made available to the Scientific Community. In this respect, the advise of any user of DAM on extra information that can be added to the site to improve and complete it is welcome. The avalailable sites can be consulted in alphabetic order or found by a search through keywords.

If you wish to include a web location or contact point use the option Suggest a new dataset
